Heels chafing on the shore

Title

Heels chafing on the shore

Subject

A sequence of 20 poems.

Description

Heels chafing onthe shore is a mysterious structure sitting at the end of an empty beach. Come inside and you'll be received warmly, but you will be expected to sit down and think. Here are sandcastles and seeds, bottles and lamps, insect wings and flames, all set up around a profound loss. In the end, the collection illuminates grief with bits of cloth and stone and candle, piecemeal, the way it works in real life. Images move through these poems, providing both solace and torment. Ultimately, the collection does what the best love poems do: it commemorates a life in all its complexity, inviting us into the space of the living while offering armfuls of hope.
